LIFE.
Life has been incredibly tough for me, filled with hardships and obstacles that seemed insurmountable. I joined the military with hopes of a better future, but illness struck me hard, forcing me to leave. From that point on, I found myself trapped in a cycle of homelessness, desperately trying to hold onto my dignity amidst the constant uncertainty.
I rented shared rooms and stayed in hotel rooms, but it was never enough. Living out of my car, seeking shelter in temporary spaces, and couch surfing became my reality. Everywhere I turned, I faced the same problem: the fear of having my few possessions taken or violated while I slept. The struggle to check in on time made it difficult to secure a stable job, perpetuating my fears and anxieties. The weight of it all was overwhelming.
But deep within me, I knew there had to be a better way. A way to find refuge and respite during a difficult time. And when I couldn't find it, I decided to create it. I introduce to the world Thanksgiving Garden—a place where you can find a much-needed hand up without the crowd, long lines, or the embarrassment of meeting people you know in unhygienic, cramped quarters with dozens of strangers.
At Thanksgiving Garden, you won't have to worry about anything except reflecting on how you arrived at this point and how we can help you forge a better future. We believe in community and want to give you the boost you need to put your best foot forward. Together, we can overcome the challenges that attempt to hold you hostage and embark on a path towards a brighter tomorrow.
Speaking of future
Here, we presented our mission to a church in one of our target zones. We believe in community. We know the burdens we carry are no ours to carry alone but, to share with a growing family that cares. We have plans to house in low income areas in Wisconsin, Illinois, Missouri, and Texas,
